What to do about stress and depression

If you are suffering from stress or depression, get help as soon as possible.

Everyone connected with a school or college has a role to play. A sufferer acting on his or her own will find it difficult to end their suffering successfully. Colleagues, managers (heads of department, headteachers), governors, Local Education Authorities (LEAs) and central government must all act positively.

If you think that stress might become a problem for you, look at the advice for stress sufferers or the advice for depression sufferers.

If you are worried about someone else, look at the advice for colleagues of sufferers.

If you have a management role in a school, look at the advice for school managers.

If you are an elected representative of teaching staff (eg Union or Health & Safety) look at the advice for staff reps.
