Using the virtual Puppy system
Boot the hard disc install and inspect /dev/hda2 (the disc frugal is installed on).
Note: if you have a problem with the mouse not working, you can use keyboard shortcuts to run the mouse wizard wizard. You may need to shutdown the (virtual) computer and restart QEMU for the settings to take effect. the shortcuts are:
- F12 - menu
- arrow keys and tab key - navigating the menus
- Enter - activating buttons.
The sequence to reach the mouse wizard is
Menu -> Setup -> Mouse/keyboard Wizard
Create a new save file for the frugal install
sda2 -> pup412 folder -> (right-click)pup_save-vanilla.2fs -> copy (to pup_save-working.2fs)
Power down
boot frugal with QEMU
pauses with choice
Type a number to choose which personal file to use:
0 None
1 sda2 /puppy412/pup_save-vanilla.2fs
2 sda2 /puppy412/pup_save-working.2fs
Choose 2
2 -> Enter
Updating ... layered-filesystem next boot will be faster!
